September Meeting: From Food Waste to Fertile Soil with Tim Lesko of GreenCo
Tim Lesko, a local Peachtree City resident and founder of GreenCo, is tentatively scheduled to speak with the Garden Club. GreenCo operates the first permitted commercial food-waste composting facility in the state of Georgia, helping to advance sustainable waste management practices at scale. Tim brings a deep, science-based understanding of composting, from microbial processes and soil health to practical system design and operation. He is equally passionate about making composting accessible at the home level and can speak to the benefits of backyard composting, including soil enrichment, waste reduction, and improved garden productivity. Attendees will also gain clear, practical guidance on how to start and maintain a successful backyard compost system. This promises to be an engaging and informative session for gardeners of all experience levels interested in sustainability and soil health.
